This 8:45 AM – 3:00 PM Kindergarten program is specifically geared towards 4.9-6 year olds, and offers critical thinking skills, developmentally appropriate instruction, a multicultural, multi-sensory and integrated curriculum and cooperative learning. Students actively learn within a prepared environment of attractive, carefully sequenced materials for kindergarten and first grade levels.

There are also many Enrichment programs. These include but are not limited to:

  • Music
  • Garden (Including Botany And Zoology )
  • Science
  • Foreign Language Immersion In Spanish or Mandarin
  • Physical Activity

The class ratio is 1:12 and the classroom has a maximum size of 24. As always Fountainhead offers an inclusive program with optional before and after daycare and optional summer camps.

The goals of the Toddler/Prep class are to give the child a positive first experience at school and to help him/her gain independence and self-confidence.

The prepared environment of the Kindergarten classrooms consolidates the foundation of concrete learning developed during the Primary years and provides ever-increasing opportunities for abstract thought.

How Fountainhead Facilitates True Individualized Learning in Kindergarten

As teachers follow each child’s interests and needs in the classroom, they keep track of developmental norms and learning expectations. These notes and data enable teachers to guide children to appropriate activities in the classroom, and to compile progress reports twice a year. The progress reports evaluate criteria in categories such as work habits, social and emotional skills, and each major area of academic curriculum. These evaluations are followed by a detailed and individualized comment about the student’s progress, behavior, and areas of focus that semester. The progress report is one of many tools to measure and record students’ growth.

Please note that children must be 5 years of age by December 1st to be eligible for this class.
