Free On-Site Field Trips

Fountainhead offers various on-site "field trips" at no additional cost. These programs are held each year and are available to currently enrolled children. They are presented by outside educational organizations during a series of visits to the school.

We welcome the ZooMobile in February! The students have a close encounter with a variety of animals and begin to learn about animal classes with experts from the Oakland Zoo. Past visitors have included a hedgehog, a rabbit, a turtle and more! You can learn more about this program at www.oaklandzoo.org/education-programs/zoomobile.

We are offering the Zoomobile on these dates.  If your child does not attend school on these dates please contact your site director to see if they can attend on the Zoomobile day.

InsectMobile

Every spring we welcome the InsectMobile to our schools. San Francisco's Insect Discovery Lab comes to campus to show students how insects impact our environment and eco-system. Children get a hands-on opportunity to learn about millipedes, beetles, walking sticks and other anthropods. You can learn more about their program at www.savenature.org.

Please check back for Insect Mobile dates in April 2012.

After-School Programs

Fountainhead also offers after-school programs at some of our campuses. These programs involve an additional cost and are subject to change at any time. They are held by screened teachers.

After-School Kindermusik Classes

At certain campuses we offer after-school Kindermusik classes.  These classes are taught by Carolyn Lucento.  Carolyn began her music and dance adventures at the age of 5 and has loved singing and dancing ever since.  She has been a Montessori teacher since 1980 and has been a Site Director with Fountainhead Montessori since 2005.  Carolyn has completed her Preschool and Elementary levels of Orff-Schulwerk children's music training.  She is also a licensed Kindermusik educator and greatly enjoys bringing her love of music and dance to the children.

This Winter offering features a classic full-length Kindermusik curriculum with a continuous theme and sequential music skills development over the 3 months of classes. Lots of wonderful movement activities and some new and unusual instruments to explore. Ongoing work with the piano keyboard and glockenspiel. The home materials are an important part of the Kindermusik experience for the child and this unit includes a well-made child sized hand drum, a home activity idea booklet, 2 cds of the music we are learning in class, a fun story-telling manipulative play set, and 2 children's picture books. In addition, families will receive weekly email updates of what the children are doing in the class each week. There will also be an end-of-session make-up day/celebration scheduled at the end of this Winter 2012 session.

Carolyn offers 12 weekly classes for $230 (includes all materials).  10% discount for additional child in the same family. Each class is limited to 10 students.  To enroll please use this form or contact Carolyn at kmcarolyn@gmail.com or 510-867-7460.  Classes can be prorated if you enroll later in the class.  Please note, you are not charged for Child Care time while you are in class.  All Kindermusik classes are for children ages 3 and older.
