Music and movement are part of the everyday fun in our classes. In addition, Fountainhead has specialist teachers who come into the classroom and lead focused circle time for the children and teachers. These additions to our program are covered by our regular tuition, so no additional payment or sign-up is required.
The Movement and Music programs are held on the following schedule. The schedule may change without notice. Movement classes are held once per week, Music classes are held every other week. SUMMER 2010 NOTE: Movement classes will not be held for the two summer sessions. Our normal Movement routine will start August 26, 2010.

Our Music Program
Carmen Trefil, our music teacher, brings her many years of Kindermusik and Musikgarten experience and her outstanding musicality into our lives every other week.
This unique program teaches the fundamentals of music through vocal, instrumental, movement, and listening skills. It is taught by a licensed Kindermusik and Musikgarten teacher. The curriculum consists of signing, instrument playing, musical concepts, music listening, creative movement, music history, and multicultural musical experiences.

Our Movement Program
Mona Sethi is a Kids Yoga certified teacher. She has taught dance to children and worked with children for over 15 years.
The Movement Class begins with warm up yoga exercises. Children stretch doing fun animal poses. They pretend to be a cat, dog, or an elephant and act like one. Doing yoga, children exercise, play, and connect with their bodies. They learn the benefits of each pose. Props like ribbons, scarves, hoops or rhythm sticks are used during class. The class will include various dances of the world. Children move to the music from around the world. They learn dances from different countries. Throughout the class, children are moving and equally involved in a structured way.
Children derive enormous benefits from such a class. Physically, it enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, it instills calm, confidence and balance as well as concentration and relaxation. Yoga and dance help them develop body awareness, self-control, flexibility and coordination through a physical activity that is non-competitive. They gain multicultural experience, improve their listening skills, while following the beat with their steps. They will carry these skills beyond class and into their daily routines.
In addition to being a certified kids yoga instructor Mona holds a Bachelors of Science. Bachelors of Education. Masters in Education; Counseling Psychology. Masters of Arts; Psychology and her Early Childhood Education credential.
